| Illiden, Archie, and friends | 7-2-07 | |
| So Illiden has been killed, Archimonde has been killed, the uber guilds have pretty much cleared and killed all the new content, and it appears that there are no signs of any new clues. Ah well, as fans of Duke Nukem would say, the fun is in the journey! Besides which, it would appear the legendary for this major content release is the Warglaives. Since thus far Blizz has yet to release more than one orange at a time, (unless you count Atiesh as 4) it's a pretty safe bet our beloved sword is still unimplemented. There sure are a lot of clues floating around though.... | ||

| Update - Black Temple | 5-13-07 | |
| The Black Temple is on the PTR and the current center of speculation is trying to figure out if there's any reason we should hope to find anything reguarding the Ashbringer in the Temple. While the Ashbringer primarily deals with things of an undead nature, and their surrounding lore, there is reason to speculate. The golden disc that give the sword it's holy power is said to be a fragment of a deceased Narru. The Narru have been in Outland for some time, there is even the remants of a dead Narru in Nagrand (Osh'ogun), and so has the Temple. It's reasonable to assume some artifacts of a Narru nature have been taken into the Temple over the ages. Since we know the sword cannot be cleansed, it must be recreated from scratch, and as such, we must find another Narru artifact to serve as it's power source. The hunt continues... | ||

| New Screenshot | 03-06-07 | |
| *EDIT* Yes- this screen shot is fake. This post and the SS itself are kept here so that people can see we've already discussed this. Well it's been awhile since anything newsworthy happened in the Ashbringer saga, but this will definatly tickle your curiousity. This screenshot was found on www.steik.org (thanks to Tehealer of Cho'gall). I've currently been unable to determine how or where this picture was taken, and by whom. The webmaster of that site is apparently a foreign exchange student who is currently in Spain and out of contact. If anyone can confirm or deny the authenticity of the screen please let me know! Also please feel free to discuss this on our forum! |

| Happy Holidays | 12-27-06 | |
| Happy Holidays to all you lore seekers!
Sorry there hasn't been anything new to post recently. There are
dozens of people scouring the Burning Crusade beta server for clues
to the Ashbringer, as well as a few lucky individuals who have carried
the Corrupted Ashbringer over to check for leads. Nothing new has
popped up yet, although I have gotten the opportunity to go into
the Caverns of Time and see the dialoge between Mograine and the
rest of the crew personally. That instance in itself is quite fun,
in addition to all the side lore and background material like Herlecular
and Kel Thuzad walking through the center of town together discussing
incantations. Hope you all have a great holiday and here's hoping we make some great discoveries in January! |

| Ashbringer Lore from the Beta! | 10-20-06 | |
| From the Burning Crusade Beta forums, which links to the OLGamer.net
forum post. Remedi of Tichondrius has taken some screenshots
of a scripted sequence unveiling more background lore about the
history of the Ashbringer, both sword and man. Here's some pictures
for now, I will have this transcribed into the lore section later
tonight. http://olgamer.net/olg/forum/album_page.php?pic_id=59 http://olgamer.net/olg/forum/album_page.php?pic_id=58 http://olgamer.net/olg/forum/album_page.php?pic_id=57 http://olgamer.net/olg/forum/album_page.php?pic_id=56 EDIT : Text transcribed HERE. |

| Corrupted Ashbringer Drops | 9-18-06 | |
| A second congratulations to <Risen>
on the first drop of the Corrupted
Ashbringer from the Four Horsemen encounter in Naxx. Axen of <Risen>
is the lucky first owner of the sword. Screens are being posted from the
encounter in the Scarlet Monestary similar to what was reported by the Koreans
a few months ago on the PTR. The Lore Section
will be updated shortly with the new text from the event. As soon as <Risen>
posts their FRAPS of the event I will post it here as well. Update : There is a torrent available if you wish to see the origonal video from Risen's site. I've also uploaded it to google video, which has reduced the quality a bit, but is faster if you don't want to wait for the torrent. |

| Atiesh Aquired by <Risen> | 9-9-06 | |
| Congratulations to Failure of <Risen> (patience their site is getting hammered right now) on the aquisition of the worlds first fully assembled Staff of the Guardian, as well as being the 2nd US guild to down Kel'Thuzad. As an interesting bonus, part of the questline involves killing a demon that posseses the staff, and dual weilds a conjured legendary. The sword is zone tagged, meaning it despawns if it leaves Stratholme, and has a very short duration timer, it will dissapear quickly anyway. The staff does indeed summon a portal which will take any raid or party member to the tower of Karazhan. | ||

| 1.12 Patch Live, Atiesh Frame Assembled | 8-23-06 | |
| The 1.12 "pvp" patch went live on Tuesday, and while everyone else was joining the massive cross-realm battlegrounds, Vis Maior of Bonechewer assembled the 40 splinters of Atiesh, and has formed the first recorded Frame of Atiesh. (*.gifs blatently ripped from their site). After assembling the frame, it gives a quest to go talk to Anachronos.... see the Quest section for more info. | ||

| Possible Leads From Korea | 6-8-06 9:00pm |
|
Supposedly a Korean guild has retrieved the Corrupted Ashbringer from Naxxramus on one of the PTR servers, and has begun trying to unravel the questline. They have screenshots of a player walking into the Scarlet Monestary and talking with the NPCs there. The screens look legit, but since I don't speak or read Korean, I'm not sure exactly what's going on. Several people have provided translations, but I'll hold off putting any of it into the pages here until I get some verified reports and some screenshots from the English servers. | Atiesh Lore Added | 5-24-06 1:30am |
|
| Added some lore for Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian. Yes I know the website name is ashbringer.com, but hey, why not put all the lore concerning all the legendary weapons in one place? Incidently, Atiesh.com and Atiash.com (as it is commonly mispelled) both redirect to this site, in case you where wondering how you got here. | ||

The search for the legendary sword of the Scarlet Highlord has been going on nearly since the game began over a year ago. Speculation on its whereabouts and method of attainment continues to this day. Unfortunately it was (finally) officially clarified by CM Eyonix on the US forum on 2/24/06 that the sword is not currently attainable in game, but the sword itself is "real" and will be added to the game in the future. The current opinion is that it will be added in patch 1.11, which will see the addition of the Naxxramus Necropolis raid instance above Stratholme. This is where Kel-Thuzad commands the legions of the Scourge on Azeroth. Since the Ashbringer is closely tied to the Scarlet Crusade, and hence to the Scourge, it's highly likely that either the sword itself, or clues to it's whereabouts will be found there. This site was created to help collect and sift through the wealth of rumors, speculation, and theory that have arisen over the course of the World of Warcraft's history. Hopefully all the information we have gathered will prove to be of interest to you. Reguardless of when or if the sword is ever found, this site will remain to help all the lore fans find out the backstory behind both the sword, and other legendary weapons. |

| PTR 1.11 Servers Up | 5-19-2006 2:20AM PST |
|
| Blizzard has brought the 1.11 patch online to the
Public Test Realms. This is our first opportunity to search and see if we
can devise the method by which the Ashbringer may be attained. Also for
those who didn't already know, a caster Legendary class staff was also intigrated
into 1.11, Atiash, Staff of the Guardian. More on both items soon, patch
is torrenting as we speak! Update : 12:30pm There is a thread in the forum to keep track of new info as it comes in, go there for more info. http://www.ashbringer.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=287&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight= |
